Behavioral Health Unit-Registered Nurse-(RPT)

The Registered Nurse [RN] (also called Licensed Professional Nurse) plans, coordinates, and implements patient care specific to the age and needs of the patient population served in the Behavioral Health Unit. S/he ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit’s standards of care, while remaining flexible to changing systems and procedures. She/he is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice, foster open communications and treat staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect.

Schedule-

  • 24 hours/week
  • 3 week set rotating schedule, weekends required
  • Benefit eligible

Required Skills:

1. Knowledgeable in Medical Terminology.

2. Communication skills are essential.

3. Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS HCP).

4. Facility designated de-escalation training within one year of hire

5. Ability to manage, coordinate and direct nurses in administrative tasks.

6. Possess good interpersonal skills so that they can communicate with the patients and the staff.

7. Ability to problem solve and be enthusiastic enough to accept day to day work challenges.

8. Understand and have a profound knowledge of all the medications and equipment in the department.

9. Possess ability to coordinate multiple tasks at a time while setting priorities.

10. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and basic Windows based program.

Minimum Work Experience:

1. One (1) year psychiatric nursing experience preferred

2. One (1) year of nursing experience preferred

Minimum Education:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

2. Maintains current RN license within the state of Idaho.
